Our Jordan - offers:
Jordan - The desert kingdom of Jordan is a land of surprises. Beyond a narrow mountain chain, discover the ancient Nabatean city of Petra; abobe the Jordan Valley, the stately Roman town of Jerash; in the eastern desert, crumbling Arab castles. Like Moses, climb Mount Nebo and like Lawrance of Arabia, take tea with the Bedouin nomads in Wadi Rum. Floot lazily in the Dead Sea or relax and dive at the Red Sea resort of Aqaba.
Wellness, health, beauty and hotels at the Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is the deepest part of the Rift Valley and indeed the lowest point on earth - 400m below sea level, with its own sea bed beeing another 300m deeper. Its high saline content of 26 percent means that you can't sink but also that nothing can live in it. The Dead Sea region produces potash for export and bitumen, much valued since the time of the pharaohs when it served in the process of mummification. Many cosmetics are made of the hundreds of various minerals you find in the salty water - and the hotels around the Dead Sea offer a great variety of treatments. The southern tip of the Dead Sea is also the land of the legendary sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah where Lot's wife was turned to a pillar of salt - there is plenty of salt, to be sure, but no trace of the cities.
From the Dead Sea you can easily start an excursion to any other place in Jordan. The distance to Amman Airport is 70 kilometers.
