Hotels and resorts at the Red Sea in Aqaba, Jordan, with rates and description
At the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan's only seaport has been coveted throughout its history as a gateway for Red Sea trade. Today, against its dramatic mountain backdrop, it is growing steadily as a beach resort with excellent facilities for diving, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. The King of Jordan himself is a keen diver and lovingly preserved the coral reefs. Glass-bottom boats are a pleasant, if lazier, alternative. There are many diving centres in Aqaba and boat-hire-companies who offer tours to Pharao Island in Egypt or nighly Barbeque-cruises. Throughout the year the temperatues in Aqaba are delightfully mellow, only in summer heat can be oppressive.
It will take you about one hour to drive from Petra or Wadi Rum to Aqaba and about 4 hours from Aqaba to Amman Airport
