Document requirements
To celebrate a wedding in Mauritius, the following documents are
required by the Civil Status Office:
• 3 copies of the first three pages of the passports
• 3 copies of the birth certificates
• 3 copies of the divorce certificate or certificate of death of spouse when applicable
• An application form (supplied by the T.O) duly filled in and signed by the future groom and bride
• French nationals should henceforth produce a “Certificat de Capacité de Mariage”
Conditions
• All wedding documents must be translated in English or French, all translations must be certified by the authorized translator
• A divorced bride-to-be, getting married within 10 months of the divorce must take a pregnancy test (at her own expense). Should the test be positive,
the civil marriage cannot be celebrated in Mauritius
• All documents should be sent to the hotel at least one month prior to wedding date
Procedures in Mauritius
• At latest three days before the wedding, clients have to go to the
Registrar General Civil Status Office in Port-Louis.
• All original documents and affidavit will be checked by an attorney at law
• Clients should then proceed to the Supreme Court to swear their affidavit Costs
