Extension Salalah

Day 01    Arrive at Salalah

Arrive at Salalah and transfer to your hotel.  Rest of the day at leisure.  

Day 2  EAST AND WEST SALALAH TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel and full day tour of East and West Salalah. You will drive past the Royal Farm and the Mamura Palace to arrive at Taqa. Here you will see some old houses elegant in their looks and the Taqa Castle before proceeding to Samhuram. Samhuram is a famous port from where the frankincense trade used to take place. Excavations here have found coins and manuscripts in Arabic. You will see the remains of Queen Sheba's Palace on top of a small hill overlooking the Khor Rawri. The drive along the coastal road takes you to the old city of Mirbat where the Arabian Horses & slaves trade used to take place. You will see as well the Mirbat Castle overlooking the sea. A walk into the town shows you some old and beautiful merchant houses with carved doors and windows. Afterwards you will return to your vehicle to drive back to Salalah. En-route stop at the beautiful garden of Ain Arzat from where the Royal Farm is still supplied with water.  A tour of West Salalah visiting Job's tomb also known as the mosque & tomb shrine of " Nabi-Ayuob" marks the place where the remains of the Moslem Prophet possibly identified as Job of Old Testament are enshrined.  Drive on to Mughsail Beach, which stretches over four kms with high cliffs on either side.  You can also see the blowholes, which are worn into slabs, and during high tides you see the water bursting out of these holes. Khor Mughsail has an abundance of bird life in the season for  e.g. flamingos, pelicans, storks etc. The tour ends with a visit to the tree known as the "Holy Incense".

Day 3 Salalah – Muscat

After breakfast proceed for a city tour of SALALAH. This tour will give you a variety of the old and modern culture of the region.  We drive through the greenery of Coconut and Banana plantations.  Visit the footprints of Prophet Saleh’s Camel and the tomb of Nabi Omran. Proceed to the Heritage souq where you can find different types of Omani crafts and incense burners. A visit to the New souq will give you an exact view of the Arabian market.  Drive to the Gold souq offers modern and old style Dhofari ornaments.  On the way to Al Hafa you can see some typical Dhofari houses with carved windows and doors.  Walking by the sultan’s residential palace Al Husn, you reach the old souq where the Frankincense, Dhofari traditional clothes and cosmetics are available. Before returning to the hotel visit the ancient city of Zufar.  Departure transfer to Salah Airport.  Arrive at Muscat and connecting flight to your onward destination or transfer to your hotel in Muscat

Musandam - Extension from/to Muscat    

Day 1  - Thursday
At 1000 hrs arrive at Khasab airport, meet,greet on arrival and transfer to Golden Tulip Hotel. check into hotel. At 1100 hrs depart for city tour of Khasab with respect to khasab fort built by the portuguese in 16th century and later drive to wadi tawi to see the pre-historical rock paintings depecting camel, ship, warrier etc. Afternoon - at 1400 hrs depart for half day 4 WD safari to Jebel Harim , the highest mountain in Musandam (2087M) spectacular for the incredible view points and landscapes, later drive to Khawr Najid to see the stunning sea view point overlooking to Indian Ocean side and then continue to drive to Bikhat Khalididya Park, a natural park with lot of acesia trees. back to hotel and overnight at Golden Tulip Hotel.

Day 2 - Friday 

After breakfast, transfer to Khasab harbour for half day dhow cruise to the fjords of Musandam exploring small fishing villages, famous telegraphic island, possible to swim and snorkel at telegraphic island, possible to see dolphins. drinks, fruits provided on board. At 1300 hrs back to harbour and transfer to Golden Tulip Hotel. At 1430 hrs transfer to Khasab airport to board flight to Muscat.
Arrive Muscat and connect flight for onward destination or extend stay at Muscat.

Day 3 - Saturday: City tour at Khasab with inspection of the Forts and the old rock painting in the Wadi Tiwi. Transfer to Dubai.

Khasab Fort and rock painting:

Khasab is the capital of Musandam and in the past 15 years was extent and modernized. The inspection trip begins with the old part of the city, which includes the two ports. You visit the oldest Fort in the region, the Khasab Fort, which originally of the Portuguese in 16. Century was established. From the Fort you have a wonderful view on the city and the large Palms. Subsequently, you drive to Wadi Tawi. Here you have opportunity to admire the typical building method of the houses in this region and see more than 2000 years old, rock painting with the representation of camels, sailing boats and much more. Jebel Harim rock painting the peninsula Musandam is located on the average 850 meters over the sea level. This trip opened you breath-taking views in more than 2,087 meters high mountain landscape of the “Jebel Harim”. Hidden in this height you visit the Beduinen place Sayh with its large agricultural surfaces and Palms - undoubted one of the most pictorial villages in Musandam. On the return trip to Khasab you visit a great natural park, called Khalidiya and from Khawr Najid you will have a breath-taking view on the Indian ocean.

Dhow cruise by the fjords of Musandam

An ideal route, in order to become acquainted with the wonderful landscape of Musandam! The trip starts in the port of Khasab. You cruise along the coast to “telegraph island”, so called, because the British maintained a telegraph station  in the years 1864 to 1869. The Dhow anchors here, because the place is ideal for swimming and snorkelling.

EXCURSIONS FROM MUSCAT  

HALF DAY MUSCAT MOMENTS – 04 HRS

Depart from your hotel, proceed to Grand Mosque ( Ladies have to cover their head with  scarf and full sleeve covering their shoulders ).  After grand Mosque drive through the seaside residential area of Qurum to the National Museum. There after proceed to the busting Fish Market on the Corniche, which sweeps the entire edge of Muscat Bay.  Proceed to the Royal Al Alam Palace flanked by the 16^th Century forts of Jalali and Mirani (photo stops). Visit the famous Muttrah Souq, an Old World souq with charm and choice.

HEART OF THE MATTER FULL DAY EXCURSION – 08 HRS
NIZWA / BAHLA / JABRIN / TANUFDepart from your hotel for the Oasis City of Nizwa, the largest in the Interior province.  And one of the most popular tourist attractions with its imposing 17^th Century fort and the busting souq, where especially on a Friday a goat and cattle auction is held.  Visit Bahla ( photo stop only ) famous for its pottery making, UNESCO has now placed Bahla in its World’s Heritage list.  Proceed to the Jabrin Fort, the finest of Oman's castle built in the late 17^th Century, which became a seat of Omani learning.

At 0830 hrs depart for a full day Batinah bash experience. On your way you will pass the airport and then along the Batinah coast. Our first stop will be at the Seeb village. Watch the fishermen bring in their early morning catch to the shores or take a walk in the seaside market laden with fish, vegetables and fruit stalls.
Proceed to Nakhl visiting the hot springs and the Nakhl fort covered with a 4 kms stretch of date plantations.  Visit Rustaq fort an absolute maze of passages, staircases and rooms all at different levels.

Depart from the hotel on an asphalt road along the Batinah coast through the foothills to the Wadi Bani Awf and the Wadi Sahtin. Once entering the wadi, the road runs through a narrow canyon with steep-sided cliffs. Water flows in interrupted streams along the canyon floor. The jagged hills form a backdrop to the palms and a few scattered dwellings, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
