Seychelles - Hotels and Resorts
A warm welcome to the Seychelles, a group of islands partly of granite rock and partly of corals in the middle of the Indian Ocean. All 115 islands of the Seychelles developed from India moving northwards from Africa passing the Indian Ocean thousands of years ago.
The granite rock islands of the Seychelles (a group of 45 islands) are the only islands in the world existing of granite rock. The lush vegetation offers coconuts, bananas, mango and breadfruits. Local forests can be found on the hills where also tea and cinnamon is cultivated.
The coral islands of the Seychelles take most of the archipelago southwest of the granite islands. The islands are not inhabited throughout the year. Aldabra is the largest atoll in the world (approx. 1/3 of the whole area) and was declared a natural monument by the UNESCO.
Because of its seclusion the Seychelles gave a perfect developmental possibility to flora and fauna. A lot of orchid, giant turtles and geckos can be found. Some National parks protect this special natural variety.
Most of the Seychelles´residents descended from French and British owners of plantages, set free African slaves, but also Indian and Chinese immigrants. Because of this a unique culture has been developed.
