Mpumalanga / Krüger Nationalpark (Private Parks)

southafrica soecials at Kruger NationalparkMpumalanga is big game country and the majority of South African game lodges are situated here. The lodges cover a range of styles, from rustic comfort to ultra luxury. Apart from the Kruger National Park, the main safari areas are the Sabi Sands and the Timbavati. Both of these reserves are made up of several private lodges.
The Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld. It is the flagship of the South African National Parks and is renowned the world over.
The park covers an area of nearly 2 million hectares, offering a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. The Kruger National Park is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms, and it is considered a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. opinion Elephant and hippopotamus ©South African TourismThe Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals.  Apart from the impressive wildlife, the park also contains several historical and archaeological sites where San (Bushman) rock paintings occur. These sites portray the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Park and they are conserved along with the natural assets.   Recently, an effort has been made towards greater ecological co-operation across African borders. Several countries bordering South Africa have subsequently agreed to take down some fences, and those between Kruger and Mozambique's Limpopo National Park and Zimbabwe's Gonarezhou, have been demolished to create the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park. Malaria-free and exclusive Game Reserves only about 2 hours removes: Entabeni, Edeni and Inyati (to book on request)
