Johannesburg arised only before 115 years from a small Gold rush camp. Today it is the largest populated area of the country and economical heart of South Africa, since 1994 also capital of the province Gauteng.Mentioned by the black “Egoli” - city of the gold -, is valid it not to wrongly as Chicago South Africa. Sunday is a visit to the Heia Safari Ranch worthwhile. The former ranch is located 35 km northwest of Johannesburg towards Honeydew. Here one can enjoy its time with a South African Braai (the South African Barbecue) and endjoy the presentations of a group of dancers (Mzumba)accompanied from singing and dragging drum rhythms. Pretoria - surrounding by powerful mountain courses and with sufficiently precipitation supplied, are Pretoria a garden city of fully sumptuous subtropical vegetation. The city fascinates its visitors particularly in October/November, if it transforms by thousands of flowering Jacaranda trees into a lila-colored Flowersea. The sights of the city center can be reached easily by the Church Square or by the J.G.Strijdom Square. Here is also the 1981 inaugurated national theatres. At the southwest of the city rises - already from a distance visibly - the Voortrekker Monument, which was established 1937-1949 for memory at the large Trek. The roof of the monument permits a far, impressive view of Pretoria. Who wants to experience something over diamonds,shoud visit about 23 km east of Pritoria the Prime Minister Diamond mine. Here 1905 was promoted the largest ever found diamond (3106 carat). The mine can be visited when registered before. To the west one achieves the popular recreation areas in the Magalies mountains and at the Hartbeespoort Dam. On the route between the airport Johannesburg and the Hartebeespoort Dam a visit presents itself with Lesedi, to a Cultural Village. Here live member of the Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa, Pedi and Ndebele ethnic groups and arrange for the visitors an impression of her cultural traditions.
